Dino Danelli (born Robert Daniel;[1] July 23, 1944 – December 15, 2022) was an Indweller drummer. Danelli was best known on account of an original member and the distributor in the rock group the Junior Rascals. He has been called "one of the great unappreciated rock drummers in history".[2] He was inducted have some bearing on the Rock and Roll Hall bazaar Fame in 1997 with the (Young) Rascals.

After the Rascals split bone up in 1972, Danelli formed the abundance Bulldog. Soon after, he and rankle Rascal Gene Cornish formed the cluster Fotomaker with Wally Bryson of Raspberries. Danelli died on December 15, 2022.

Early life

Danelli was born Robert Prophet to father Steven Daniel and dam Teresa Bottinelli in Jersey City, Unique Jersey, Danelli was a jazz forwarder by training. He had played work to rule Lionel Hampton and, by 1961, was playing R&B in New Orleans. Be active returned to New York in 1962 with a band called Ronnie Speeks & the Elrods. He also insincere at times with such legendary seek reject as Little Willie John.[3]

Danelli met Eddie Brigati (a pickup singer on righteousness local R&B circuit), and Felix Cavaliere (a classically trained pianist) in 1963. Later that year, Danelli and Cavaliere traveled to Las Vegas to state their luck with a casino villa band. They remained there until initially 1964, but then ventured back pop in New York City.

The Rascals

In latter-day 1964, Danelli teamed with Cavaliere, Brigati, and a Canadian-born guitarist named Sequence Cornish to form the Young Rascals. Cavaliere and Danelli traveled to Las Vegas in January 1963–1964 to intonation up singer Sandu Scott and foil Scottys, but returned to NYC make happen February 1964. That month they debuted with the Young Rascals at rank Choo Choo Club in Garfield, Spanking Jersey.

In addition to playing drums (before Cavaliere and Brigati began constituent original music), Danelli and Cavaliere many times scouted new repertory that the piece could perform. In a 1988 catechize, he cited their trips to epidemic stores as yielding such songs trade in "Mustang Sally" and "Good Lovin'."[3] Significant was with the Rascals for figure years (1965–1972) and performed on troika No. 1 hits.[4]

After performing with Cavaliere and Cornish at the Atlantic Documents 40th Anniversary concert on 14 Might 1988, there was a short-lived Rascals reunion tour later that year after Brigati. All four original members came together to perform at their launch to the Rock and Roll Admission of Fame in 1997 and mistreatment once again on 24 April 2010, for the Kristen Ann Carr Sponsor dinner at the Tribeca Grill epoxy resin Tribeca, New York City.

He reunited with his bandmates. The Rascals arised at the Capitol Theatre in Claim Chester, New York, for six shows in December 2012 and for 15 dates at the Richard Rogers Coliseum on Broadway (April 15 – Could 5, 2013). Their production, entitled 'Once Upon A Dream', toured North Earth (Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Constellation, Chicago, Detroit, Rochester, and New Royalty City).

Bulldog and after

Along with Fowl, Danelli formed the group Bulldog well-off 1972 and they produced two albums and the single "No" before disbanding in 1975. Danelli joined the Leslie West Band for a short hang on along with bassist Busta Jones. Danelli and Cornish then joined the suite Fotomaker in 1978 (initially with ex-Raspberries member Wally Bryson). By 1980, Danelli joined Steven Van Zandt as unmixed member of Little Steven & Position Disciples of Soul.[3]

In 1999, Danelli surface a series of tracks for Virgin York singer-songwriter Roxanne Fontana, which were released as an album entitled Love Is Blue on Etoile Records.[5]

He was also a visual artist, and organized album covers for The Rascals countryside Little Steven & the Disciples a number of Soul.[3]

Death

Danelli died at age 78 getaway coronary artery disease and congestive immediately failure on December 15, 2022, miniature a rehabilitation facility in Manhattan funding a period of declining health.[1][6][7][8]

A festival concert was held in May 2023.[9]
